This goes on my Favorites List, Joe. After reading your straight-faced, informative description, I came away with even more appreciation for you as a photographer. It may be one of your least favorites, but it's one of this gal's all-time favorites on FAA.

Joe Schofield replied:

:) Many thanks, Connie !

Congratulations, Joe, on your contest win. I didn't even bother to vote for mine (it was that bad), but now I like it--though not nearly as much as this beauty. Even the green part of the stem looks like its "arms" are crossed as if to shield its face. Could not be more perfect, and sure put a smile on my face this morning. Wonderful work!

Joe Schofield replied:

Thank so much, Connie !

Congrats on your second place win in the "Least Favorite"... I guess that is kind of funny to WIN a contest on a photo that is your LEAST FAVORITE? hehe.. I'm with Denise Fulmer, if it makes me laugh, it gets my vote too! LF

Joe Schofield replied:

Truth is, it is one of my favorites. It speaks for itself. Thank you, Kym!

4th Place, State of the Union Address 2018 contest 2-15-18
3rd place, "This piece never fit in any contest" contest 11-27-16
2nd place, "Your Least Favorite" contest. 10-7-14

A vine-ripened Mr. Stripey from the garden in a moment of posing poorly...

These huge, beefsteak-type red-and yellow fruits with a high sugar content are delicious and pretty to slice because of the bi-coloring. Although it is called Mr. Stripey, don't expect perfect stripes. This is an heirloom and no two tomatoes are ever the same. The background color of the tomato is yellow to light orange and the red often appears in little spots that align themselves in a stripes radiating from the stem end of the fruit. Indeterminate vines produce through the season. Popular in the mid-South and beyond.

About Joe Schofield

Joe Schofield

As a kid I was fascinated with photographs. Look, Life magazine. National Geographic. That well-captured interplay of light and shadow...the notion of people, places and moments - all suspended in time. My first "real" camera was a Minolta Srt101. I was seduced. As a teenager, I learned how to develop film while working at Wyle Laboratories in El Segundo, and I still recall the smell of the developer...my eyes adjusting to the red filter light...and the sheer magic and delight of watching images begin to emerge. Life, family and a career as a teacher and psychologist intervened, not to mention a few more film cameras. Eventually, there was digital. Hah! Liberation! Photography is the creative medium that allows me to share...
